Online Classes

Monday, Jan 11, 2021 | 6:00 - 7:00pm (PT)

Steadying the Heart & Mind with Yoga

The session weaves together a series of traditional Yoga practices for cultivating a sense of calm and inner peace: mindful movement, focused breathing, and meditation. This session will begin with a gentle Yoga sequence to settle the body. We will then explore how a simple breathing practice along with the use of an anchor phrase (i.e., a mantra) can soothe anxiety. The session will close with a meditation. In Hatha Yoga, these practices are frequently completed together as a means of steadying the mind and emotions. Each one can also be drawn upon individually as a brief practice when you need extra support.

Partner Prenatal Yoga Workshop

Next dates TBC

Prepare for birth through yoga! This partner workshop is open to pregnant people and their partners (partner can mean anyone: spouse, partner, doula, friend, or anyone who will be providing birth support during childbirth) and to all levels of yoga experience. No prior yoga instruction necessary.

This workshop will offer you the opportunity to explore the intersecting pathways of support during labor and childbirth and yoga. Partner Prenatal Yoga will offer the opportunity to explore the physical practice of yoga through warm-up poses and partner yoga poses. The session will also include yoga practices such as breath and meditation as an opportunity to find connection and support.

Through thought provoking questions, simple massage, and time to share one-on-one with your partner, you will also be given the chance to touch in to your expectations, excitements and fears about your upcoming birth experience and becoming a parent (or becoming a parent again!).

Plan to join me for Partner Prenatal Yoga during your pregnancy––a great “date” for couples and also a wonderful way to connect with someone on your birth support team.

Cost: $45 – for two participants. Pre-registration is recommended as these workshops often fill and are limited in size to make room for partner yoga.

Class will be held at the 8 Limbs Studio in Phinney Ridge.
Details forthcoming.

Private Sessions

In India, Yoga was traditionally taught one-on-one and individualized to the unique needs of each student. Today, private Yoga lessons are an excellent format if you are new to Yoga, experienced and wish to deepen a home practice, or working with a health condition or injury.

Private sessions include:
  • A free 15-minute consultation so that I can learn about your goals and you can learn about how Yoga can help you achieve these goals.
  • The first session is 75 minutes and includes a more in-depth assessment when we design your practice.
  • Written instructions and drawings to illustrate Yoga poses, breathing and meditation practices.
  • Follow-up sessions are 60 minutes.

Yoga Sutra-s Study Groups

This community study group follows a traditional Yoga Sūtra-s format. To start each session we first chant the Invocation to Patañjali, followed by the sutra-s from the beginning of the chapter we are working in through the sutra-s we plan to discuss that evening. Then we discuss the meaning(s) of the sūtra-s as seen in different interpretations. We conclude each session by meditating on the sūtra-s.

I am grateful to my mentor, Sandra Uyterhoeven, for her guidance and support in creating this group. I had the honour of attending her groups in Cambridge, MA for three years. These meetings were filled with reflection and fostered a beautiful sangha (community).
